Chin - Executive Office
Chin is CFO of a large accounting
firm. The firm identified work–life balance, recruitment, and employee retention
as their three top priorities in the coming fiscal year. His company is seeking
a comprehensive, tailored employee health and wellness program that will provide
a significant return on investment.
The health, wellness and productivity management approach
COS would work with the accounting firm to foster the development of an all-inclusive program, addressing the following:
- Work-life balance
- Employee recruitment
- Employee retention
Additionally, the program would seek to enhance employee health, help control workers compensation/disability management costs, minimize absenteeism, improve productivity, and provide a measurable return on investment.
The opportunities for workplace enhancement
Once the company’s needs, wants, and goals have been established, the landscape would be assessed and a program (as outlined below) tailored to maximize the organization’s potential.
- Discovery, assessment, and program design phase
- Program announcement
- Client branding of all info
- Companywide communication and promotion programs
- Seamless integration of program communications with existing channels, campaigns, and events
- Small intro package mailed to each employee’s place of residence
- Health and wellness newsletter
- Ergonomic consultation
- A modest incentive of reduced employee healthcare contributions offered in exchange for participation in bi-annual health and wellness screens and appraisals
- Bi-annual health and wellness appraisals to assess, motivate, and strengthen positive changes
- Bi-annual health screens to assess, motivate, and support positive achievements
- Personal health and wellness reports
- One-on-one time with a health professional
- Program summary reporting for management
- Workshop and targeted intervention programming (e.g., cardiovascular health, weight management, diabetes, cholesterol, and stress management)
The risks of not addressing the workplace challenges
- Positive reductions in sick leave and absenteeism will be
difficult to attain
- Reductions in health care costs will be difficult to achieve
- Reductions in workers compensation/disability management costs
will likely be minimal (if any)
